During a conversation with a vendor today, they asked something that genuinely made me pause and smile:
“Why have you chosen to move from Harlow to Bishop’s Stortford?”
The timing couldn’t have been more perfect, especially with my new chapter as a Partner at haart. And the truth is, there isn’t just one answer — there are two. One personal. One business.
Let’s start with the personal.
The personal: coming home (again)
Bishop’s Stortford has always felt like home, even if it took me a while to realise it.
My family moved up from London back in 1994, when I was 18. At that age, Bishop’s Stortford felt quiet… maybe even too quiet. So I spent most of my time back in London, chasing the buzz I thought I needed.
That perspective didn’t really change until the early 2000s, when I bought my first property in Little Hallingbury, one of the neighbouring villages close to my family home. That’s when things clicked.
I started to appreciate the space, the community, the balance, the things you don’t always notice when you’re young but value enormously as life moves on. Bishop’s Stortford wasn’t just somewhere to live; it was somewhere to belong.
By 2007, life took me back to London again. But fast forward to 2022, and something interesting happened.
I was headhunted by haart and offered a clear pathway to partnership through the new Harlow & Sussex Hub. Suddenly, my career and my life started to come full circle. Harlow became the base, and Bishop’s Stortford was once again very much part of the bigger picture.
The business: timing, trust, and momentum
When I joined the haart team in Harlow, the mission was clear:
- Build a strong local presence
- Create a formidable team
Lay the foundations to expand into new territory using haart’s new partnership model
The role itself was designed to bridge neighbouring towns, offering a more personal, bespoke service, without compromising on customer care, expertise, or genuine local knowledge.
Like any big move, timing is everything.
The opportunity to expand into Bishop’s Stortford came before, and I didn’t take it. It wasn’t the right moment.
But now?
Now we’ve:
- Built an excellent local reputation
- Achieved 150+ Google reviews
Maintained a 4.9★ rating based on real client experiences
And most importantly, we’re seeing more and more homeowners moving between Harlow and Bishop’s Stortford. The two markets go hand in hand.
With my long-standing connection to Bishop’s Stortford, both personally and professionally, I genuinely believe I’m in the best possible position to pick up the baton and help homeowners get the level of service they should expect.
Why this matters, if you’re thinking of selling
This move isn’t about territory. It’s about experience, trust, and continuity.
If you’re a homeowner in Bishop’s Stortford, you deserve:
- Honest advice
- Smart, modern marketing
- Deep local knowledge
- And a service that’s tailored, not templated
For me, this isn’t just a business decision. It’s personal. It’s professional. And it feels exactly right.
If you’re thinking about selling or even just want a straight-talking conversation about the market, I’d love to help.
